Help needed

I am still researching the life of James(Jem) Carney bare knuckle fighter born 20 Oct 1858 in Birmingham to Michael Carney and Mary Roache. He died 9 Sept 1941 middlesex The only death certificate I have obtained shows he was a retired commercial traveller of fancy goods.This occupation seems odd to me after all his fighting records. I wonder iif I have the right one.On the death certificate his son a James Carney living in Coventry is shown in attendance.I have details of all of James snr boxing records at home and in America. At one time he lived in Newmarket at the home of a racehorse trainer He became a bodyguard to a millionaire who was a friend of Lilly Langtree the Jersey Lilly. I am unable to find out any more details of his private life any where on Family trees from ancestry. co.
What I would like to know is who James married and I would be very grateful if any one can help. Thanks in advance.
Regarding the James Carney of Coventry his address is shown as 34 Rothesary Avenue, Tile Hill Lane, Coventry
In conclusion I find it very strange that no other member of of the Carney family knows any more than I do about this famous champion

Sorry but I have no more information on his son only what I have given from the death cefrtificate of his father.

I have found a James carney on the 1891 census living in tottenham middlesex who was a commercial traveller and had a son james aged 8 in 1891. all the family including james snr and his wife Clara were down as born st leonards shoreditch, james snr is goven as 39 years old.
this matches your death certificate in alot of ways but not your actual james carmey,

on the 1901 James snr is still a traveller still in shoreditch but not sure what it says his product is, maybe books, his son james is not at home
