anybody know this childrens book?

i've been trying to find this book for years that i had when i was a little girl. i only have vague memories but it was a hardback book about woodland stories, maybe 5 of them in one book and i'm sure 'woodland' was in the title.
i only remember 2 of them, one was about a squirrel that went out at night and jack frost sprinkled frost on his tail so he couldnt move and the other was about a rainbow. The colours of the rainbow were used as paint and eventually all the colours gor used up or something and also the colours had flavour, red was strawberry, blue was blueberry etc.
Thats all i can remember. i had it early to mid 90's and if anyone knows what i'm goin on about or has any suggestions please help, i really want to find this book and am drivin myself insane about it! thank you

no its not that. just googled it and had a look but its definately not the rainbow fairies. it was a book with all different stories in it - the characters weren't related in any way i dont think. thank you anyway
