I can't get out the house which is why I asked on here. A kind lady at my local library got back today and says the novel is Elidor by Alan Garner which featured a scene where children kick a football through a church window. The window leads them all to Elidor. Sorry if I've upset everyone

Well there you go. If you respond to us at least we can gauge if you are really wanting help or just winding us up.
