i notice that this sculptor is featured on google today for his 135th birthday. i'd never heard of him but have to say absolutely love his work, considering when he was born it's very contemporary looking.
what about you - like it? hate it?

I find the arts of his time fascinating - there seem to be so many experimental groups and individuals around. If you place Brancusi's work in context it's mind-blowing - seems to have stood the test of time very well.
Seems to me artists are often 500 years ahead of their time but rarely 50 years ahead, if you see what I mean. A pioneer of modernism he still seems fairly rooted in his time to me (but I'm no connoisseur) but take The Kiss here for instance, that one could have been made in the 1970's and a small replica could well have been gathering dust on my Mum's shelves http://www.rodin-web....oach_art/brancusi.htm I can't really appreciate it, it's too much been there done that for me personally (the seventies, that is).

I like his resting heads and egg like shapes. Swedish artist Bertil Vallien used to make similar heads in glass not so long ago http://www.imagogalle...oom/zoom_Vallien.html

...so yeah I guess I see what you mean after all:) Great art is timeless.
