I am comparing King Lear, Lear and A Thousand Acres. All three make frequent references to animals / animals suffering and include a great deal of animal imagery. Does anyone know the significance of this? TIA

The animal imagery in King Lear is always used in derogatory terms to indicate the unnaturalness of a character‘s behaviour in comparison to how they should behave if they observed the natural social order.
