I don't usually have my hair cut at the hairdresser but am going to do so this evening. Should I tip regardless or only if they do a good job? And how much should i tip?

Personally, I tip whenever I go - but thats because Ive been going to the same girl for years now, and she works magic on my hair:) But I don't see why you should leave a tip if you're unhappy with your cut - so make sure they know what you want done.
Yes, but the 30 goes to the owner of the salon, the girls that actually do the work get a crap salary, I know my ex and her brothers girl did it. She was a shop manager and was earning less than an office receptionist. My haircut costs 8, I always give the girl a 1. People tip taxi drivers in order to establish a rapport, and thus get a reliable service from what is usually an unreliable trade.
