I want to use lemon juice to lighten skin/liver spots I have to apply it twice a day I have a fresh lemon here but how long will the lemon keep? in case it effects the lemons effects on the skin cold would prefer to not put it in the fridge.
Any thoughts ?
The lemon juice in bottles is that just lemon juice or other stuff like preservatives?

PLJ don't mention preservatives. I'm guessing that the remaining 0.2% is potassium bisulphite (which is the preservative mentioned on the labelling for Asda's bottled lemon juice). I can't see that having any adverse effects on its uses on the skin and (irrespective of any dates on the bottle) I'll happily use lemon juice in cooking which has been in the cupboard (unrefrigerated) for months or even years. It's basically little more than a dilute solution of acetic acid, so there's nothing that can really 'go off'.
it's all online I am only 30 and have just noticed some freckles haven't gone away and they are quite dark they appear to be liver spots they look identical to ones pictured online I think its because I am fair skinned, there are numerous home remedies

There are some bleaching creams you can buy from chemist or Body Shop. not so harsh as lemon juice which is an acid. Liver spots have nothing to do with your liver by the way. and most likely only appear on the over 40s, however these spots can occur after being exposed to the sun, so cover up or use a high factor sun cream 30/40.

Don't know if the bleaching is only temporary what..the but I am going to try it with you. You are very young to have liver spots so don't think it is that, just some freckles I would think - which I think are attractive. I shall use some bottled juice which has been in the cupboard for ages. I subscribe to the same idea as Chris and will use it however old it is.
well they say that if they are light they are only in the top layers of the skin therefore if I exfoliate as well that may help, they a lemon and sugar version too
