Hi, im thinking of having a brazilian blow dry but don't know anyone who has had it done. My hair is mid lengh very coarse, wavy & dry (mainly due to highlighting) & I really don't want to have it cut shorter. Has anyone had it done & would you recommend it? Also how does your hair feel as it starts to wash out, does it just go back to how it was before?

Thanks

I had mine done and it was great. You don't really notice when it comes out as it just gradually fades till your hair is back to normal.
I posted pics at the time

I had it done last year. My hair is very thick and curly and it worked a dream! It lasted around 3 months on mine, I am getting it done again before I go on holiday as sun and sea hate my hair! lol

Does it work on floppy, fine, short hair?
My hair is quite fine, but has a curl and is prone to frizzing. I think you'd need to check with a hairdresser to see if it would work, it's a lot of money wasted if it doesn't!
I was thinking of a Groupon £59 offer but had better check first.
I would like to get it done but could never afford it at my own hairdressers and I'm really nervous about using a groupon and going to a different hairdresser. I had a bad experience with my hair last year and now don't want to go to anyone other than the hairdresser I've got. :-/
Karenmac, how long were you in the salon for the BBD ?
It was about an hour and a half all in - got a cut too.
Sorry ladies....I had to look in on that....soooo many other things going through my mind when I read the title... ;-)
Oooh Slapshot - naughty. And I posted pics too...! ;)
!!
I don't think I've ever heard of a BBD the pics look nice and my niece has hair like that naturally, she does it herself with straitners. So what exactly do they do? Why does it cost so much and only lasts 3 months? Is it some sort of straight perm?

jem
It's mainly keratin Jem, which is one of the main components of hair. They put it through your hair then dry and straighten on a high heat which seals the keratin into the hair. You then have to leave it for 4 days without washing, but after that it's fab - you can leave your hair to dry and you don't need to use the straighteners which means your hair gets a rest. It leaves it really well conditioned and it just gradually washes out after a few months - not like a perm where it grows out and you have half straight and half curly hair. They can cost anything from £90 to £250, but I got a groupon voucher for £50 (even then it was a big treat for myself!).

Thankyou Karen that was most informative, just goes to show how behind with the times I am. Wow! it is expensive but I'm sure If I was a lot younger I'd be wanting one.
Even my niece who spends hours on her hair every day to achieve that look.

Very straight Eddie ;)
