Does anyone remember in the 1950/60s you could buy & fit a sun screen hood at the top of the front windscreen ? Does anyone know if you can still get these,I'd love to start up the trend again they did the job well & looked quite smart.Ron.

Not sure I recall hoods. do you mean the coloured strip with "RON" over one side and "SIT. VAC." over the other ?

no OG the hood used to be clipped on the outside at the top of the windscreen I think it was fastened to the car on both sides ( in front of car doors ) with some sort of clip arrangements.Ron.
Yes I remember them more like the ones in chuck's second link. Not seen them for years.
I remember when plastic stick on "bullet holes" were popular on rear windows.

Just think how much extra fuel the extra drag form one of those would use!

they were classy
vinyl roofs had to be combined with with rostlye wheels though :)
I remember the sunscreen well. My Dad had one on our Mark1 Ford Zodiac
Yes I do remember them Ron they where the in-thing at that time, I think they would have to modify them now regards the fuel saving, we had them on the HGVs Mercs, they where split at each side on the top to let the airflow through.
I had one of those on a 1957 cresta e with a side mounted chrome searchlight, left it with a mate about 20 years ago,
who cares about economy they looked great.

Also, can you remember the Headlight blinkers / Eye lashes?
Get one on the Skyline .. I think would get ripped off in the airflow tho : )
