I am not quite sure if this is the right area for this question but need to ask it anyway. Can any of you ABers recommend a brand of electric hair clippers for me as I have just managed to burn mine out? I was cutting my hair the other day and they just stopped. I was hoping that it was just the thermal cut-out cutting out but it was not. They are done for, I am sorry to say.

Would I have to buy proper hair stylists clippers or can you get a decent brand for home use? I would like some that do not break down after 5 minutes which the last lot seemed to do.

Thanks in advance for your ever helpful replies.

My mum has always used Remmington ones for my dad and they are very good.
Wahl - but not very cheap ones off ebay that are probably chinese ripoffs.
If it's for cutting your own hair - the Philips Cut-your-own hair Pro takes some beating.
We have something similar to these - http://www.argos.co.u...TON+HAIR+CLIPPERS.htm

They are used to cut himself's hair and the three boys and we have had them ages.
Wahl is a well-respected brand, which is used by many professional hairdressers. Prices start from around £11 (but go much higher!). Look at the star ratings here and then, for further information, click on the bracketed number alongside the stars - That let's you read the detailed reviews:

Thanks for your speedy replies, folks. If they were in a sale they would be subject to price cuts and am glad to see that none of you have made any 'cutting' remarks to my very genuine question.
I've been using a set of these

for at least 15 years, stiil going strong and have never needed any maintenance apart from cleaning and a spot of oil.

Thanks for that D97. Those look lovely but did I not mention I did not want to take out a second mortgage to buy the clippers?

I do need something cheap as on a low wage at the moment.
I have a set by Babyliss which are working OK so far. Most hairdressers I have been in have equipment by Wahl so I would assume that this is the best.
Aldi do a perfectly function clipper set - but you might get quite shaggy waiting for them to come round again in the weekly specials list :)
Cheaper in the long run though Jonny.
Usually the best time to buy is before Christmas or Fathers Day because these are usually half-price or less. Unfortunately, if they're made down to a price, they won't last very long.

I see the Grammar Police are on holiday today. What I should have said is "Which ARE the best clippers to buy for home use"?

Sorry about that and thanks for your answers, folks. Would one of you like to cut my hair for me. That would be helpful as have often been mistaken for a werewolf even in the middle of the day.
It took me a while to find the best Hair Clippers for my hair as it's quite thick, I finally bought the Babyliss 7475U Hair Clippers, reason being the reviews were really good and they had strong blades and various guard size options.

I definitely recommend them, this was the website I used for reviews - http://www.besthairclippers.co.uk
