Can anyone tell me whether Waxing (bikini & legs) is worth the pain and money? I know they say the results last for weeks, but do they really? Most razor advert claim that you'll have smooth legs for anything from 3 days to a week, whereas I find that i have to shave everyday to stay silky smooth. Is the wax-lasting-weeks claim true??

Hi moof, not a fan of waxing I'm afraid ~ tried it and found it way to sore, mind you that was years ago, also don't like having to let the hairs grow before you can have it done!  So it's the razor for me and I've never found it a chore, as most of us shower / bathe every day it just becomes routine!!

Thanks Libertie, wanted to know coz im due to go on holiday soon and wandered if it would save the pain of shaving, just for 2 weeks, but thanks for speedy response!

hi,actually got waxed a week and a half ago and even now(and for the last few days) there has been quite a substantial amount of growth!

apparently hairs have a cycle that they follow i.e. they may not aways grow back straight away, they may lie dormant for days or weeks before rearing their ugly heads again!so, unfortunately, when one gets waxed, there are probably a lot of hairs that have not yet exposed themselves.these tend to reappear within 10days of waxing.thats what i find anyway.

the thing is though, that, yes it is sore the first time, but the hair grows back a lot fairer and finer after being waxed.this obviously makes it A LOT less painful when one goes back for a second dose!

basically what i would recommend is getting waxed and then using the Veet cold wax strips youself whenever you see a few hairs sprouting up.

good luck with the waxing-just grit your teeth and bear it!

i think its great but i hate the in-between growth!

It lasts 2 weeks the first time you have it done, then the following times it will last up to 6 weeks.  My friend has been getting it done for years and the hairs no longer grow on her legs!

As for the pain, try taking an aspirin half an hour beforehand and dont get it done at "that" time of the month

With waxkin you will get some growth after a week or two because all your hair grows at different stages. 6 weeks is when you would have them re-done at a salon. You may find that you have to grow them for at least 4 weeks for you to get the most benefited smooth legs for longer, if you leave them for two weeks for instance the re-growth would be quicker. Those veet strips are great forthe summer but leave it 24 hours before you go out in to the sun as it will only sensitise the area more, that goes for swimming and hot showers etc too. I usually use veet on my thighs and shave my lower legs.
Yes definitely worth the pain.  But remember that several hairs grow out of one pore so some will not be got rid off, and so these appear before the time is up, but still worth every penny in my opinion.  Pkus the legs do not feel spikey.

I think you might be getting razors and the bladeless razor kit from Veet confused.  Veet is a hair removing cream and is supposed to last longer.

I got my legs waxed before going on holiday last year, and all it meant was I had hairy legs for 6 weeks whileI waited for the hair to be long enough to be waxed (I normally shave).  not only that, but the beautition told me if you normally shave then wax, you'll get lots of little hairs that get missed because, as Monodge said, they grow at diferent rates.  The woman ended up waxing my legs, then going over again with a pair of tweezers, that was agony!

It was nice not to have to shave when I was away, but it didn't last long for me and certainly didn't make up for having to wear trousers and tights for 6 weeks before because of my yeti-like legs.

i get my bikini and tops of legs waxed and def recommend it.  everyone is different but i feel that the pain is like a slight nip but over so fast.  Certainly the hairs do grow in but feel they are so much finer it is worth it.  Will be even better after i have been getting it done longer.  Do not get the bottoms of legs done as do like them to be silky smooth for summer.  think will have them done over the winter months though.
