Hi everyone,
Over the past couple of years i have put on a lot of weight and consequently gained some stretch marks along the way. The worst are on my stomach and what most call "love handles" around the back. Also a couple on the back of my calves.
I am trying to lose some weight at the minute but every time I see myself naked now I just break down and cry. I know some people may think that's stupid and stretch marks does not warrant crying over but it's made my confidence hit an all time low (when i thought it couldn't get any lower).
I have had stretch marks years ago growing up as a teenager which have now gone into white lines, however the ones on my stomach now seem a lot more severe than they ever were.
I basically would welcome any advice on what to do...do creams really work? will they ever go?
At the minute i feel like even if I can lose the weight i will still feel ugly with these marks on my tummy at the minute they are a deep purple/reddish. I need someone to tell me they will get better.
Thanks for listening-feel a bit better now!! Rach

Lots of moisturising will help, you can get stuff from L'Oreal and there are a few maternity brands that do special oils. Don't let that make you feel bad though, I'm about a size 14 and have gradually gone up from a 12 in over 2 years and I got stretch marks, I hate them too. I know a lot of places say it's because you put on weight quickly but I think some people are just more likely to get them, prehaps it's because of skin density.
Good luck with losing the weight and the marks!
