False Teeth Problem
13 Answers
Just recently I have been fitted with an upper set of false teeth.
I really hate them and I certainly can’t eat with them in. I also
find they change my speech, which becomes virtually unintelligible,
even to me. I have paid a lot of money so I complained to my
dentist. He just said “you have to get used to them, practice more
speaking with them in, you’ll soon get back to normal”
Is this the case or have I got a bad dentist and bad false teeth.

It means changing the shape of your mouth, which means changing the way your tongue interacts with it when you're talking. I just try to talk as loudly and clearly as I can, and prepare to repeat myself if I'm still not understood.
Not being able to eat seems like a problem, though, since that's what they're for.

The advice I had when I first had false teeth was to wash my mouth out often with a teaspoon of salt in water. Not to attempt solid foods at first but have soups and soft foods. When speaking pull your cheeks in and hold the teeth firmly. Worked for me but it does take time so persevere and you will get there .It will be worth it .
