Perfumes
36 Answers
me and my husband just having a nostalgic talk about perfumes our mums used to wear (charlie).
do people still wear the old "classics" such as youth dew?
that perfume still makes me heave and brings to mind old ladies' knickers!
I wear eternity (calvin klein) or pink pepperpod (molton brown)

Have just remembered being given a bottle of Coty's "Smitty" - hated it and left it in the bathroom. A young friend visited for tea and was then going on to a party, went to bathroom to titivate herself and came out smelling gorgeous - when I asked her what perfume she was wearing, she replied "it's yours"!! Goes to show perfumes smell differently on different people.
I used to love Je Reviens by Worth. I was about 18 when a boyfriend who was a bit older bought me the perfume in the little medallion bottle for Christmas- the stuff I was wearing at the time was about 10 shillings A bucketful and I said to my mum ' well he's a bit of a tight wad'. As soon as the shops re-opened my best friend and I went to check out the price ...... £5 a bottle a weeks wages in those days! Nowadays my favourite is Peonies Nobile by Acqua Di Parma

do none of you know that the make up of a perfum - - - changes?
so Chanel WObbler ( 1962, I made the name up) may well NOT be the same as Chanel Wobbler 1978.
I used to use Eau Sauvage - the yellow and black one
and the last stores were in airport lounges, which I sortta mechanically cleaned out. Someone said, you do realise it is likely that the stuff that hooked you is NOT what you are buying now?
I didnt
Yeah and the pongo that follows a leddy is 'sillage' ?
"'Sillage' is the French word for the perfume trail left in the air when someone leaves the room, similar to the 'wake' of a boat or the track ...

I wore men's Joop homme for years but grew out of it. I have Good Girl for special occasions but usually wear Chloe Nomade or Gucci Gorgeous Gardenia at the moment. My mother loved Coty L'aimant but my father always gave her Je Reviens which she hated (it's bright blue and smells like a chemical toilet as well as looking like one).
