I Have Become Obsessed With Teeth

I never really noticed people's teeth unless they were particularly prominent but now I can't help noticing when people on TV have had their teeth 'done', they call to me like shining beacons.

Today it is TV presenter Mark Evans. I've been watching his series 'My Floating Homes' on catch up from series 1, skipping the episodes that don't interest me. I watched a new episode and his teeth jumped out at me. 'Another one!' I bellowed to my startled wife.

Maybe it brings back memories of my childhood when my mother had all her teeth whipped out (there was nothing wrong with them but it was free option on the NHS, lots of younger people had it done) and smiled at me with these enormous shining teeth. I think I screamed.

It jars when I watch period dramas, these 'Turkey teeth' shining beneath lips blown up with filler topped off with thick, marker pen eyebrows.

Bring back quirky, natural teeth. Have you got a tv pet hate or obsession?

Blown up lips are cringeworthy , I feel I want to stick a pin in them and see them deflate, the very pretty Sarah in Emmerdale has been having hers done , the don’t look good

Bobbi, I used to use Pearl Drops, do you remember them? I was a smoker and they scrubbed my teeth clean, problem was they scrubbed the enamel away, too. A little squeezy bottle. I also had some pink powder in a tin, that was like kitchen scouring powder :D
At least it's your own teeth and not those scary implants or veneers.

I'm glad I'm not alone, lb. Ten Pound Poms was ruined for me by these 'enhancements'.

Have actually just noticed "the teeth" thing lately - so unnatural.

Also notice how many people just jump in vehicles and drive away - no seat belts!

I don't watch Emmerdale but it never looks natural. Might as well stick a clown's nose on their face

Talking of seatbelts, I can't watch when the driver is chatting away to the passenger, totally focused on the passenger and not the road. I know the car is really on the back of a low loader but it still makes my heart race.

If you watch the older sitcoms such as Keeping Up Appearances it is obvious on modern tvs that the background is moving and not the car :D

In films they sometimes adapt the car so it is driven by somebody sitting on the roof

I think Smokers toothpaste in a tin was called Eucryl?
I had a proper impression take of my teethe at the dentist the a mould made, you drop a tiny amount in each separate tooth in the mould , I leave it for about an hour once a month , it’s a bit like a gum shield , I drink Coke ( with vodka ) and drink my coffee black so I like to keep them clean and white( ish )

Maybe it brings memories of my childhood when my mother had all her teeth whipped out - - My mother anaesthetised my father for his complete dental extraction - post POW, not many dentists - 1945- and gave the signal too early ! never mind she had never seen teeth fly around the dental surgery so fast. Not sure if the dentist sutured the gums. - too technical!

British actors can always be told ( I am told) by their awful teeth. All the American beef have beautiful teeth. Not their own

and yes if George Washington ( rambling I admit sozza) had not worn his spring loaded teeth - we have them in a museum then he would have looked like Mr Punch as most people did them 1790s.

I make a point of looking at teeth in old archive film - the OH ( erm Oral hygiene that is!) is terrible. Basically, anything wrong with them, whip them out.

I hate those veneered teeth and puffed up lips too, also don't rings in noses, I always wonder how they blow their nose, yuk!

I read that Rylan had them toned down but I haven't seen him on tv for weeks. I avoid him where possible

I used to use 'Gordon Moores' (I think) toothpaste. It was red and coloured your gums to make your teeth look whiter
