tattoo!!

Now i have tattoos in various places,but i was asked today if using cream to numb the area first would affect the tattoo,its not something i've ever done myself but it has got me wondering cos the cream is put on for an hour then wiped off so would it interfere with the ink??Thanx

All's I know is, if you go and numb it with cream first, then your NOT urning your tattoo...dont ya think?

i have several tattoos and have not heard of anyone using cream to numb the area first so not sure if its OK. Best thing is not to be such a wimp!

im a woman with approx 30 tattoos on various parts of my body,i must say that i would never use numbing cream anywhere ,the whole beauty of having a tattoo is the pain as well and i dont mean that pervertedly either.what im trying to say is the two thing go to- gether,

I must say I have never heard of people using numbing cream prior to tattooing. Scarification (cutting) perhaps but not tattooing. I know I would never even consider it. It's all part of the package. Mind you I would not look down on anyone who'd want to use it, I know plenty of people who are terrified of needles and if that helps than good luck to them.

But it certainly not my cuppa tea.

PS. I honestly don't know if it would interfere with the ink, and would not risk to find out.

I have always thought that if you want a tattoo then i agree the pain is part and parcel of that,it was just a question i was asked and couldn't answer,dot.hawkes the name is a combo of my younger days in the pub hence the malibu and the sioux is due to my love of the native americans,cool eh?

A friend of mine has had to use Emla cream on a large tattoo as the part of the area she's having the tattoo in is so sensitive that the needle is literally pulling the skin off. This is the only instance I've heard it in, so presumably it's "OK" to do, but not normal practise.
