Asking this for my mother in law, 'cos I can't remember. Do gas hair curlers go in hand luggage or hold luggage? (flying Gatwick to Malta)

IATA regulations prohibit the carriage of inflamable gases, in any quantities, in the holds of passenger aircraft.

The regulations for cabin baggage only prohibit the carriage of gas containers 'in large volume' so I assume that, if the airline will permit gas hair curlers to be taken on board that they'll insist on them being in hand luggage.

I wouldn't be surprised, however, if some airlines simply refuse to allow them to be carried in any part of the plane.

On the leaflet she got with her tickets Chris, it says you can take gas curlers, but no extra canisters. So you can take them, but it doesn't say where. Going on what you say, I guess that means they go in hand luggage.
