Either they make it look greasy with a layer of conditioner thicker than the hair itself or they make it clump together, so I avoid them completely. The best shampoo for my very fine hair I have found is the cheap Tea Tree Oil shampoo from Asda for 75p / bottle. It leaves my hair quite shiny but not feeling as if it has something stuck to it. The smell is a little unusual but not unpleasent. Very strong astringent shampoos tend to irritate my scalp, but it is quite mild and the Aloe Vera helps in that respect too.
The best way to make your hair thick is to use conditioner NO MORE then everyother day...even if your hair is very thick. The natural oils in your scalp are very good for your hair. Wash it with whatever shampoo you prefer, then put some moose in it, or a dab of Gel..but make sure any and all product goes on evenly. Blow dry it in smalle sections from the roots with your head upside down, and as the hair starts to dry add a lightweight hairspray (while its drying) and don't just add it on the top of the hair , it has to be underneath as well. -This will make it thicker, fuller, and easier to style. Make sure you hold the hairspray at least 12 inches from your head. It should fall evenly like a mist. Use a round brush at the roots.
All this takes 15 minutes. My roommate had terribly thin hair and she was always waisting her money on New shampoos. So I finally told her to do an experiment...wash one side of your head with one shampoo and wash the other side with a different shampoo. I said "I guarentee you wont see a difference after you blow dry it." I was right, and she was out of money ;) She finally did what I said and now she has volume.
