Smokey Eyes

Can anyone tell me how to get that lovely smokey eyed effect without looking like a demented panda?

Going out next weekend and want to try it :)

I think the key to the smokey effect is that you might not be suited to the greys and blacks that are often used. Plummy shades and browns can pull it off too. I often have the greeny/blue look on that page which I personally think is DAZZLING.

If it helps am quite pale skinned, dark brown eyes, dark eyebrows and long dark eye lashes.

greys probably arent gonna be your thing then... green brings out the brown, or go for the plum

Got a nice one from MAC a while back, not used it much yet, may have a play around with that as got a nice dark blue to compliment it as well :)

Am crap at getting all the colours to go right though and being inventive, any ideas?

No7 have some nice palettes at the moment. ALthough for stay on all night in the best colours urban decay are the king of eyeshadow. Get some fals eyelashes too, the individual ones and start from the outer edge with the longer ones. They will make your eyes look brilliant.

ooh ooh oohh also urban decays heavy metal, its a glitter liner, if its a big night out use that. Looks fab. If you are young you can get away with quite abit but I just dab a bit in each corner cause Im getting close to thirty and dont want to look like a chavvy teenager.

Was decidedly sleep deprived and hungover when this was taken though hence the lying down!

its not easy in a picture cause you cant tell what warms your face and what draws from it. Have a mess around with some fabrics next to your face and see what you feel comfortable with. To carry off bold eyes though, you must get the base flawless. For a highlighter though benefit do a lovely gold one that looks as if it would suit you ebtter than a whitish colour.
