Foundation SOS?

after countless efforts to find the best foundation i just simply cannot find one thats nice. ive resorted to wearing Boots no7 Intelligent Colour (you just buy Fair-Medium or Dark and it perfectly suits your skin) which (for people who dont have oily skin) IS A MUST HAVE! its lovely!! its a velvety sort of foundation it goes on like a dream and gives u a gorgoeus, glow but its bringing out my spots as i have oily skin already. Stupid i know but it was the only one that looked nice. but now my skin has had enough, my spots are back with a vengence! im thinking of trying a higer price brand e.g. Clairins or Lancome?
Can anyone recommend one?
Please help, i cant go out without my make-up ill feel naked! LOL

Hiya buzybee, I too have had problems with foundations and have spent a samll fortune trying to find one that suits my skin.

I finally discovered No7 tinted moisturiser - which works for me with having both sensitive and dry skin. the only foundation that doesn't give me spots is Maybelline Dream Matt Mousse - but I find this to be quite drying, (should have realised that (matte)) could work for you tho if you have oily skin.

If it is to help your skin I would recommend "Bare Escentuals" foundation. It is a powder based foundation which is actually good for your skin and is pure enough to sleep in!

There's one in the Boots 17 range that has a mild antispeptic in it which helps keeps spots at bay, and has lots of shades. Not sure of the name, but if you ask they should be able to help you...possible Get Even?

i have the same trouble as you buzybee coz i have very oily skin and spots. Any foundation i buy seems to slip off my skin and by the end of the day there is no coverage! Tinted moisturisers are good coz they don't block pores but they don't give a very good coverage. I've found that No7 stay perfect is pretty good and it doesn't block your pores so it doesn't cause spots. Also the maxfactor colour adapt is good because it gives a matte finish when applied. To be honest i've tried the expensive makeup brands and they don't do anything different to my skin, you just pay for the name! But if you find a good one for oily skin, that does't block pores, cause spots and can give a good coverage then let me know! : )

I have oily skin and adult acne (which I'm on medication for) and I use Clinique - the Super Balance or Superfit. Both are good because they are oil free and that is the important thing. I used to work as a make up advisor so have tried most of the brands. Since I dry my skin out most of the time to counteract the oiliness I cannot use the matte mousses and find liquid foundation the only way to go. I know what you mean about not wanting to leave the house without make up on and I am so jealous of my friends who don't have troublesome skin but we oily skinned types have one silver lining - I am almost thirty and have no lines or wrinkles. I look about 22!!

I use Lancome Teint Idole. It's ideal for oily skin as it has a stay-put formula and won't go shiny or slide off your face.

Princesssazi - I got the body bible for Xmas, in it I found a handy hint for foundation staying power. You have to put moisturiser on and leave it at least 10 min before applying foundation, ensuring the foundation lasts as long as posible. (Apologies of you already knew this, I didn't, tried it and it certainly works).

A foundation primer is your new best friend! It prevents more oil coming through, keeps skin even, stops the foundation soaking into the skin and looking patchy and tends to contain calming ingredients that soothe.

Nars does one (a bit pricey, but excellent!) and Ruby & Millie used to have one too that was much less expensive. Mac does a great product called Prep + Prime which does much the same thing too. I also really like their foundations which come in about 12 finishes and a billion colours and start at about �11 a bottle, which is quite a reasonable price!

Often though its not the wearing of the foundation giving you spots, but not removing it well enough! Never ever sleep in your make-up ( that's the best piece of advice I can give you as a make-up artist who gets spots!) and use a good creamy cleanser to shift it all off last thing!
