I have come home today, opened my back door and my view out of my back door is the back of an ugly plastic shed that my neighbours have put up.
We live in old town houses where our back doors are very close - just seperated the width of a couple of slabs and a fence. The gardens then are wider down the bottom with plenty of room for a shed there, which is where ours and everyone else locally has their sheds.
Why an earth next door have put their shed resting against my fence i dont know, but is there anything i can do to make them move it to a place where i havent got to stare at the back of the ugly thing EVERY time i look out my back door?
We have spent thousands on our garden having it all landscaped and decked - I dont want to have to spend forever looking at their ugly shed!! It wouldnt be so bad if it was wood ..... but pale grey plastic ?????
I'm not too sure there is anything you can do, unless its blocking your light.
Shame your neighbours didn't take you into consideration first, and speak to you about it, but i'd be interested to see what others say about it.
It wouldnt be so bad if they were nice people who we could approach and discuss the issue with, but they arent.
In the winter months their old cast iron guttering fell off their house and landed in my front garden, not only did it break most of my plants, the mud and debris was left in my garden for my to clean up, along with scraping it off my windows.
I did knock and inform them it had fallen off and that it was scattered all over my garden and how dirty my windows where .... their response was "ive told the housing association and someone will be out within 3 weeks" I asked who was going to clear up the mess it had made and they said " ill ask the housing assocation too" within 3 weeks ?????
I gave up and cleaned the mess up myself as I wasnt waiting 3 weeks with dirty windows and mess everywhere.
They have been a nightmare since they moved in with their attitute and very loud "baby making", to the point they wake my kids up! or worse when we have visitors in the day!
I have thought about reporting them to their housing assocation but didnt want to get into a tit-for-tat situation as I have 2 dogs who dare to bark occasionally.
Its such a shame though as the past tenants there were lovely, and a house across the road has also been purchased by the housing assocation and those tenants are lovely too. Just a shame next door isnt!
I just dont know whether to try asking them to move the ugly shed to somewhere more suitable (as there is a better place for it ... if only they cleared their rubbish away) or whether to inform the housing assocation.
Either that or can someone recommend an extremely fast growing hedge lol
Ring the housing assosciation and see if they got permission to erect it. Could you plant some tall conifers in front of the back of the shed? Or put some conifers in some pots in front of it.
Maybe it will take time to get used to the shed being there as you aren't use to seeing it there.
Sorry I can't be much more help but don't be afraid to contact the HA if they are inbreach of their agreement.
