Why can't a dibetic use wax products?
Hi, I hope someone can help me. I purchased a home waxing kit the other day to wax my facial hair away. When I got it home and read the instruction leaflet it says that you can't use it if you are diabetic. I have been diagnosed with diabetes type 1 for months now and this has never been mentioned to me by my diabetic nurse. I can't really see what difference it makes, its not like it will mess with your blood sugars or anything. Does anyone out there know the reason why?

I can only assume that the facial waxing kit is going on the same lines and assuming that if someone is diabetic and they burn themselves with it the consequences are potentially worse .But remember that these kits have to list a warning only if one person has had a bad reaction so I'd really talk to the nurse about it . She knows you and should be able to give you a good rsik assessment for using it.

or people with diabetes, the issues of hair removal while similar to those of people without diabetes, do require extra consideration. Firstly if someone has any diabetes related problems with their legs or feet, it would not be advisable to use a waxing treatment. There is the potential that this treatment may aggravate the problem or cause an injury due to either the hot wax, the trauma of the removal of the wax or a combination of both. However if someone with diabetes did not have any diabetes related leg, foot or skin complications then waxing treatments are not contra indicated. However caution should always be exercised to avoid using wax that is very hot as it may cause a burn to the area.
its mainly beacuse your skin is thinner when you are a diabetic. as the wax strip is pulled of, a layer of skin is taken off also, exfoliating the skin if you will. incorrect technique can reault in more skin being pulled off and bruising.
due to the generally bad circulation and thickness of the skin it is advised not to wax.
