I recently stumbled upon a website offering self tooth whitening kits. I emailed them my queries about it but have not had a reply.
Is it suitable for all adults? Will it remove stains which have resulted in not brushing teeth for a few years? Are there any long term risks? I read that it may cause increased sensitivity and gum pains but that seems only short term, correct me if I am wrong.
While some might be sincere, others will tell you anything to convince you their product is good, and you should buy it. So be careful with what they might say to you.
A girl in work has had really good results from an internet company that offered tooth-whitening services. She approached the company with the full knowledge of her dentist too.
The company sent her some sort of gum stuff to use to create a proper imprint of her teeth. Once they received this from her, they send her all her teeth-shaped bath thingies and chemicals. Her treatment went on for about a year and her teeth look fabulous now.
She had mild discomfort each time she put the treatment on her teeth but there's been no permanent damage or anything. She made her dentist fully aware of what was going on and they even monitored it in their appointments.
Re- reading your question, I realised I hadnt actually answered your real questions.
You need to go to a dentist to check you can benefit. From your comment about it helping someone who hasnt brushed their teeth in a few years, I gather if its not you theyve not seen a dentist for a while either which may bring up a few other issues.
Long term risks again, normally not if under dental supervision, but any underlying risk to the tooth enamel needs assessing first.
My teeth were quite badly stained and a friend reccomended Arm and Hammer tooth paste I've been using it for a month now and my teeth are a lot whiter and the stains have nearly gone, it also has an enamel protector.
I have started to use Tesco Whitening toothpaste for sensitive teeth. It`s very good & I`ve noticed a huge difference in my teeth. It`s not expensive either around the 1:50 - 2 mark.
