I am a 22 year old women and have developed fine dark hair on most of my body, e.g. breasts, back, belly, bum, in the last two years. Everyone tells me its ok and normal, however I feel so ashamed and am constently covering up if I am not fully waxed or bleached. Am I the only woman out there that has this problem? Should I just flash my hairs and get over it?

I think you must have a hormone problem. what's the doctors said. I'd ask for electolosis if i was you on the NHS. That's if you don't want to move abroad, i believe european woman are hairy.

I am sorry for your problem, but i know if you'v got something that men don't like then you're always going to be down.

it's how you feel about yourself.

that's why some men want to dye their hair when they go grey, it doesn't bother me, i like it, but some men just can't cope.

I wish you well and hope i've helped, sorry if it's a bit blunt wasn't meaning to be.

Thanks for the support.

My GP just said it was not bad enough for hormonal treatment as its just fine hair.
Your GP may be right re the hormone treatment, however if it is affecting your state of mind, confidence etc then I think they have to take notice.

Are you dark/olive skinned at all?
You will notice it more because that's what you're looking for. LOTS of women have what they feel is too much body hair. Go to a local beauty salon and speak to someone who does electrolysis about what you feel and what you should or shouldn't be doing about it.
You have nothing to be ashamed of, waxing etc is fashionable.

thanks wired.

im sure a beauty salon could be a lot of help just need to build up the guts to go to one.
most people have fine hair on their bodies but obviously i depends on how dark you are as to how much it notices. If this has only come out recently it is worth asking your doctor to check for Polycistic ovaries as this is quite a common thing to happen.
No you dont need courage to go to a beauty salon, that's what they're there for. They will be treating cases far more serious than yours but will be sympathetic and discrete.Try phoning first if it's that difficult for you BUT don't feel bad about yourself JUST DO IT ! good luck.
My 10 year old daughter has the same problem, very bushy eye brows, and very hairy legs, arms and back. I was hoping i could at least get her out of Primary school before she became concious about it, but thanks to the Parents who allow their young daughters to read teen mags etc this wasn't to be. After about a years worth of upset i have had to finally back down and allow her to get her legs waxed, kinda sad really that other kids have made her worry about this at such a young age. Of course now the kids make an issue out of her eye brows so shes begging me to let have them waxed too, chickening out as i know this hurts a lot more than having your legs done. She also wants her back done so she can wear backless tops. I personally dont notice her hairs and nor does anyone else who loves her she is who she is, those who do notice and make fun of it aren't worth thinking about. You have nothing to be ashamed of some people are hairier than others thats all. Most important thing is not to let this become an obession which i think from reading your post this could be becoming, if you can't find it in yourself to flash your hairs and get over it as you say then visit a beauty salon and be waxed lots of women do you are not alone.
