spots on arms
5 Answers
I have lots of small lumps/spots under my skin on the top of my arms. In the summer some of them can become red and turn into spots, but during the winter they just remain under the skin, but are still noticable. Can anyone offer any advice on how to get rid of them? Thanks

Exfoliate and moisturise, but this will only help, not get rid of it completely.
Tanning can help but tanning causes its own problems.
Very very common - a third of all adults have it to some degree at some time in their life.
If you are overweight, losing weight MAY help.

These spots are very common as Ethel says. I used to sell natural products at parties and if I had a quid for everyone flashing their spotty upperarms at me .....
Ethel is right (as per) re exfoliating.
We used to recommend body brushing which improves circulation and skin conditions such as this. Get a good body brush and work in circular motions towards the heart, preferably prior to a shower or bath. Skin improves very quickly with a 5-10 minute daily body brush as should this ailment. It is very invigorating, really wakes you up if you can do this in the morning, but avoid or be careful if you have blood pressure problems.

It sounds like keretosis pilaris, which runs in families, it's not "hereditory" but "familiar" In the USA people take this as a complaint serious enough to see a dermatologist about and get treatment, it's all cosmetic reasons. I have it, I have hated it but never bothered a DR. My kids have it, and after reading the american treatments, I got a referral for my daughter to the dermatologist, and he agreed that it's not painful, but unsightly at times and prescribed Retinol A gel, which is an expensive anti aging substance, it reguvanates your skin faster. So when she doesn't use it, it's on my forehead!
I had the same a while ago, however they didn't actually turn into proper red spots just the annoying rough bumpy ones under the skin. I went to do the doctor and he told me to buy HC45 which is in the same family of creams as the E45 range but with a touch of hydrocortisone. It cleared up in a week. I then just carried on after that with E45 and I have been fine. They are both to buy over the counter too!
