Mascara recommendations

Can anyone recommend me a decent black mascara? I've been using max factor masterpiece, loreal voluminous and loreal double extension but want to try something different. I'd like either lengthening or thickening or both, don't really mind which.

The only ones I'm not keen on are Benefit Bad Gal and Maybelline.

I would have recommended "Define A Lash" but you said you don't like Maybelline.

I absolutely adore YSL Effets Faux cils and Diorshow. They are both fab, and makes your lashes very thick with just one coat.
The Diorshow one has a huge brush though, so if you don't like that I'd go for the other one.

I absolutely swear by Boots No7 Intense Volume, its really good and seems to last for ages.

The best mascara I've ever owned was the YSL Effets Faux Cils, so I have to agree with Max on this one. It's extra-volumising and so easy to apply, and looks stunning. Well worth the spend.

Oh, and here's a great tip for using mascaras:-

DON'T dab the brush in and out of the mascara tube when applying your mascara. There is no need to do this as it makes no difference to the amount of mascara on the brush. What it will do though is pump more air into to the tube which in turns gunks up the mascara more quickly.
