What is the chance my baby can have ginger hair?
Hi, Im about 3months pregnant and me and my boyfriend of course are always got questions about how the baby will be. Anyways he has green eyes and ginger hair but a lil dark as i have dark black hair with hints of brown high lights (natural) and have light brown eyes. His side that has ginger hair is his grandad and his uncles child has light blonde hair. As nearly everyone on my side have brown or dark black hair apart from my dad who has blonde hair and blue eyes. my boyfriend says it skips a generation but is this really true? could my baby miss the ginger gene?

I know my there is very little possibility that my baby will have ginger, auburn or red hair, but as for yours, you say it's on the side of your partner, so there is every possibility.
Regardless of this, I'm sure as baby's mother, you will think your baby is the most beautiful baby ever.

Nobody in my sons family has ginger hair and nobody in my daughter in laws family has ginger hair, not a ginger hair in sight! But my beautiful gorgeous grandson has ginger hair, but as pinktwink says, what does it matter? the colour of his or her hair will be the last thing on your minds when he or she is born, you'll just be thankful that the baby's healthy! Are you wanting the baby to have ginger hair?
pinktwink, it does matter.
What's the point of having a baby at all if you are totally disinterested in the little things such as hair colour, first words etc. She is excited and wants to know the likelihood of what her baby will look like, even at this early stage...
Of course the baby's health is of paramount importance, but Mimi isn't asking about that. She's interested in the genetic legacy, and who wouldn't be? She didn't say whether she would prefer her baby to have ginger hair or not. Why should she give her child a complex...that's taking it a stage too far in your own mind.

i am special
In all the world there's nobody like me. Since the beginning of time, there has never been another person like me.
Nobody has my smile. Nobody has my eyes, my nose, my hair, my hands, my voice.
I'm Special.
No one can be found who has my handwriting. Nobody anywhere has my tastes-for food or music or art.
Nobody sees things just as I do. In all of time there's been on one who laughs like me, no one who cries like me. And what makes me laugh and cry will never provoke identical laughter and tears from anybody else. EVER.
No one reacts to any situation just as I would react.
I'm Special.
I'm the only one in all of creation who has my set of abilities. Oh, there will always be somebody who is better at one of the things I'm good at, but no one in the universe can reach the quality of my combination of talents, ideas, ability and feelings. Like a room full of musical instruments, some may excel alone, but none can match the symphony sound when all are played together.
I'm a symphony.
Through all of eternity no one will ever look, talk, walk, think, or do like me.
I'm Special. I'm Rare-
I AM UNIQUE AND PRECIOUS..
And in all rarity, there is great value. Because of my great rare value, I need not attempt to imitate others.
I will accept-yes, celebrate- my differences.
I'm Special.
And I'm beginning to realize it's no accident that I'm special. I'm beginning to

that's a very thoughtful poem and much appreciated. Thank you for posting it.
hope this doesn't sound cynical, but don't most kids wreck their hair when they are in their teens? Nevermind, it will all sort itself out in the long run and it sounds as if the baby may have a lovely auburn tint to the hair, no matter what colour.
Good luck, Mimi, and hoping your pregnancy goes well.

Velvetee - why the anxieties, when you yourself say each mother thinks that her own child is the most beautiful? It's true though, as I told you when you first anounced your own pregnancy.
The thing is....if looks are of all-consuming importance, what'd happen if a child wasn't to your expectations? The thing is, he or she will be - because it'll be yours.

Dark hair tends to be dominant. You both will have to carry the ginger gene for your baby to have ginger hair. That's why gingers are dying out.
I have a 'Gingers survival guide' book. It's so funny. My BF is as ginger as you can get.
Ginger people don't go out with ginger people as everyone thinks they are brother and sister....

hi guys im john i have 2 sons one 13 with bright ginger hair just like me well at 36 its more grey ginger like a badger and my hair on top of my head has slipped to my shoulders (bad times lots of wax) my other son has brown hair and looks nothing like me or his mother. i love them both equally but i have my doubts as me and their mother were seperated at the time of conception and i cant pin point or remember the deed but i have never questioned or even put my doubts up for discussion as i dont want to cause any hurt to my son's.
