How do I get my hair looking straight and sleek?
5 Answers
I got my hair cut short in a Fern Britton type style (but nicer!). I couldn't dry it properly to start off with so went back to the hairdressers for a lesson! So now I know to use a straightening balm, section your hair off, use a round brush and point the nozzle of my hairdryer downwards and off we go. I do all this and it goes straight up to a point but doesn't look sleek if you know what I mean. It doesn't lie close to my head like it should and I'm not sure what else I can do to help this. I don't have any straighteners (and don't want any). At the moment I use VO5 colour protect shampoo and conditioner - should I be using one of these ones that claims to have straightening technology (or something like that)? Any suggestions gratefully accepted coz I do want to try and look as good as when I've just stepped out of the salon! I know I'll never quite make it (otherwise I'd be a hairdresser!) but I want to do as much as I can!!

I get on really well with the Elvive nutri-gloss shampoo and conditioner and john freida bits and pieces if I need them. But I notice that there are lots more straightening shampoos out there now ( JF being one of the ranges or maybe tre semme?). Worth a try.
If your hair is short then don't use too much product as it will weigh the hair down, also only condition on the ends.
I find the Pantene sleek and straight 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner good.
Try a cold rinse after washing and pat the hair with a towel rather than rub.
I use the Frizz Ease spray and sometimes the tiniest bit of serum for a sleek look but if I use more than a tiny bit rubbed between my palms and used to smooth the hair (just use palms to smooth down) as I have very fine hair and it makes it look lank otherwise.

Straighteners dry natural oils out of hair but its the only way to get pin-straight hair without a Straightening process. You must use conditioner if hair-stratening + silicone spray.
Dry hair. Pick up 1st of 3 front-right sections (nearest ear & working to top centre). Same on left front. Nape (1st of 4 to crown). Left rear side 1st of 3, then right. Working from bottom sections to top layer.
