Doing my hair in a certain way (curled at the ends)?

I have naturally wavy sort of hair but it always goes fluffy wavy so I have to straighten it. So do I straighten my hair and then curl the bottom with curling tongs? And what could I use to hold it in this style?

tonged curls: Dry (& straighten) hair first, pick sections & wrap around hot tongs, count 20 & release. Spritz to hold.

Before u blow dry your hair put a mousse through it too, that helps hold the curls and give your hair body.
