Sun cream for babies
Hi, please can anyone tell me what kind of sun protection I should be using on my daughter who is 13 months old. What SPF should I be using? Some creams for children are only 20. Any help would be much appreciated.

She's tottering around at the moment and says Dada to most things! We have some vouchers for Boots and I keep forgetting that they run BOGOF's on most things! I will try there!! thank you xx
I really like the Banana Boat Powder Dri if they have that in boots - it is a really light cream that drys completely when you rub it on, so that nothing sticks to it and it isn't uncomfortable. This might sound mad, but I tend to think that when you use sun cream here when it isn't that hot, because it sometimes doesn't all absorb, it makes me feel cold as it is still sitting on your skin and seems to cool down in the wind - a bit like the feeling you get when you are wet and stand in a draught. If you get what I mean! Because the banana boat stuff dries completely, I don't get that feeling, so I guess the kids don't either.
If she has sensitive skin, we have used Boots own make that doesn't have any perfumes or colours and found that good as well.

Oh, and I was going to be a wee bit contraversial as well and say that when there is only very light sun, such as at this time of year, I would be tempted to use a lower factor so that she can get some vitimin D and so that her skin gets a chance to know how to protect itself - if her skin has never been exposed to sun without a sunscreen and then, for whatever reason, she is out without any, she will burn really quickly.
Think about how much more easily you tan after you have already had a tan the previous year - your skin seems to protect itself very quickly.
Then, when the sun is strong I would use a really high factor - 30 or 50 or total block.

thanks everyone for your advice.
I guess I just want to start educating my daughter early about protecting herself in the sun. I don't want to go overboard though. however, I'm aware that even when it's not necessarily hot, the rays are still there. If we do get a summer this year, I'd like to be doing the right thing!
