Hayfever - what could i be allergic to?
4 Answers
I have only suffered with hayfever for the last 5 or so years (I'm 45). I can mow the grass without any problems at all but I know that there must be a particular type(s) of pollen which brings out the hayfever. My question is, is there anyway of isolating what i could allergic to by the time of year ie my hayfever has only started up in the last 3 weeks or so and usually goes by late August early Sept. I know im not allergic to Grass and to my knowledge flower pollen. If its relevant im located in Essex in a not particulary rural environment. Thanks to anyone who could make some suggestions as to what i could be allergic to. BTW i have not ruled out rapeseed but we havent got any fields near where i live that grow it.

From what you are saying it could be tree pollen. I believe there is a test that can identify exactly what you're allergic to. A couple of things that help me with my hayfever, first of all try to dampen your hair before you go to bed and then dry it, this stops you breathing in the pollen in your hair and waking up bunged up. Second thing is if you can start taking echinacea pills about a month before you normally get hayfever you will find the effects dramatically reduced.
