suzee,
Forget the tattoo, buy a plaque for the wall or a Buddha, maybe with candles, and whenever you feel the urge, light one and remember what it was like on the heroin, and what your life is like now.

Well done on giving up heroin suzee.
You must feel so proud of yourself & I would imagine your family & friends are too.
Personally, I wouldn't want a tattoo to remind me of the misery &/or heartache caused when taking it (not that I've ever dabbled).
I would take every day as it comes & treat the people who had helped me through the hard times, to some nice little gifts to show my appreciation - that would make me feel good.
Anyway, a big pat on the back for you & good luck in the future. Take care. -x-

Am well proud of you Suzee.
Keep on taking little steps forward...i'm not sure what tattoo you should get but look to the future and all it will bring.
Have just been talking to two old friends who have recently become clean. They now spend their time helping others to come off heroin, or work with harm reduction...they are using their new found strength to help themselves and indeed others.
good luck with your future plans...x

I can't help with any tattoo ideas, I'm afraid, but well done for kicking the habit and I wish you the very best of luck in staying off.
Someone I knew of and liked a great deal kicked heroin. Unfortunately he was unable to find work or friends afterwards, became very depressed and took his own life before he'd given the world a chance a give him a chance. Please don't go there. You've done brilliantly so far, but you're probably aware that there's still a long way to go. People do care, so don't you ever forget that.
Again, well done!

Hi suzee - I can't understand what the 16 years were like.. and unless you are strong enough to explain the reason of the tattoo to everone that asks,,, suggest you just have a small '16 years?' tattooed in a descreet place that you'll see frequently to remind you of the time you lost. However if you want to educate others.. be bold and proud and flaunt your good news. well done again and make the next 16 years special x.
