Moped dying!

My moped has not long been back on the road, it came out of garage after being fixed up and MOT'd and made roadworthy again basically. ive had no problems with it for the past few weeks until Friday last week, i took it out on Tuesday last week and when i was on the journey back, it started to rain but i carried on going (I wish i hadn't now) Ever since then, it has struggled to start every time, i didn't touch it until the Friday afterwards, it was left outside my sisters house, when i tried to start it, it wouldn't fire! I took the air intake apart and got a hair dryer in there to warm it up but it still wouldn't do anything, i left it in the garage overnight, went out the next morning, it started fine, no probs at all. It was running fine for a couple of days, few struggled starts but it worked eventually, in the end we put it down to the cold, i wasn't convinced because i leave it outside overnight all the time and it starts fine! It was kept in the garage again last night and this morning, the bl00dy thing wouldn't start again, ive never had a problem starting it when its been kept in the garage! What could be the problem? another thing ive noticed is that when i am riding in the rain, the bike jolts alot when on full throttle, it doesn't run smooth. any suggestions welcome. TIA :-)

It sounds like you have a damp problem....make sure all the electrics are free of grime or grease....and spray over everything electric including your HT lead with WD40.

Update: stripped bike down to bare engine and chassis, taken out fuel tank and drained all of fuel out, put everything back together, replaced fuel, and, Tada, it started fine, all is good now, just waiting for it to break again now! The fuel hat was in there was siphoned out of my courtesy bike into a bucket which had dust and stuff in it, i stupidly put that fuel straight into my bike and i think something blocked the pipeline or there was an airlock somewhere. Who knows! :-)

you need to flush out the fuel tank as their will still be dirt in the bottom of the tank, the jet may need cleaning and the carburettor may need resetting..

err, does it matter that i have ridden it since i got it working? please tell me i haven't just potentially screwed it up again!

oh I just read that you replaced the fuel ;)

you should be okay if you cleaned out the carburetter and jets before you put the clean fuel in.
