Make up demonstrations

I'm planning a big day out in Glasgow with my friend in a few weeks and we've both always fancied getting our make up done before hitting the town at night. Does anyone know if they still do this in the big department stores? Do you have to buy something to get it done or what? Thanks

I am in London but I am sure all the large department stores will give you a free make over. Try MAC or Cllinique, say you are thinking of buying some new makeup and can they make your face up for you first. Also ask for free samples when they have finished, especially Clinique. Then say you will go back next week and buy something .... you shouldn't be pressured, and they aren't likely to take all the makeup off if you don't buy something !

MAC were doing an offer that you pay £25 for a one hour makeup consultation and makeover and you get the £25 to spend on products after.

Might make for a fuller make up job than them just trying products out and in case they are busy when you go and can't spend very long.

They also do fab false eyelashes, £8.50 and will help you chose the, cut them to size and put them on for you within the price if they aren't too busy.

i would check with the department stores - Frasers, Debenhams and John Lewis. Regularly see people getting this done in Frasers.

I've had a few done. The ones where you just walk up to them only tend to be brief such as trying some eye colours out.

It also tends to very much depend on how busy they are. I remember having to do a mad dash to Selfridges to get some false lashes put on as they were so busy in HOF when I went in, only just got them done in Selfridges too as they were so busy in there as well even though they had so many staff on.

Trouble is with places like MAC, they provide a lot of advice as well as the demonstrations and such they do.

If you want to make sure you can get it done properly I'd strongly advise booking in and maybe having a wander round (or look on the website) to have a look at colours and looks you like.

The makeup artists are great, as I said before, but they do tend to favour the strong makeup look which is not for everyone :)

I have to say, MAC have some fantastic makeup artists working on their counters.
