Squad if your out there, any ideas on a problem I seem to have developed. About a fortnight ago I had a feeling I had ricked my neck - left side. This gave me a feeling of an impending severe stiff neck and a mild headache. The stiff neck never materialised but I still have the 'ricked neck' feeling and my left ear now feels as if it is partially blocked (most annoying - the type of thing you get an airplane starts its descent and re-pressurises - but only on one side) - I have never suffered with my ears and am now the wrong side of 50. The neck feels like there's a problem, stiff and achy, and I still get the mild headaches - feels like a pressure headache. Paracetamol has absolutely no effect on the neck or headache. I get the feeling (no pun intended) that a trapped nerve could be the cause but your expert advice would be most welcome as would advice from others who've suffered this type of thing. Many thanks.

Novice...it does sound like a musculo -skeletal problem involving your cervical spine (neck), but the feeling of deafness in your left ear is certainly difficult to explain on that basis.
I would change the Paracetamol to Ibuprofen 600mgms for the relief of the pain as this is an anti-inflammatory drug.

Monitor the situation for a week and then get back to us if it hasn't cleared up.

Thanks Squad - Brufen a non runner unfortunately - asthmatic. However I'm trying co-codamol which seems to have eased it albeit slightly. I also seem to be developing a cold which may mean the ear thing is a red herring in so much its related to the cold not the neck problem. Neck very 'clicky' as well, old bones I guess. Again, thanks for your input.
