Where can I find a British wellington boot designer and manufacturer

We want to start selling a range of wellington boots designed to our own requirements, but have been unable to find a British company who can do the work ( either design or manufacturer )......plenty of firms in China, but I think people would rather " buy British ".

Any help would be much appreciated.

Nearly all UK manufacturers have either closed down or switched to importing their products from parts of the world where labour costs are much lower. (Even Hunter Boot Ltd, which holds Royal warrants, now only imports the footwear which they sell).

The only genuinely British brand name I can find is 'Border' but no amount of web-searching shows who actually manufacturers those boots. (I've looked at every possible company called 'Border xxx' on the Companies House website without success).

I can only suggest finding one of the few small independent footwear shops, that still exist on the back streets of some towns, and asking the proprietor if he knows where 'Border' wellies come from.
