does anyone else squeeze spots when depressed or stressed?
13 Answers
hi, i have a horrible habit of when i'm feeling low i get my 5 x magnifier mirror out and put a spot light on it then look at all the white/black heads on my face and squeeze them for hours, make my face red and blotchy and create spots. I've been dumped recently and i want to feel good within myself but i'm low and stuck in this squeeze spotting cycle and i hate myself all the more for doing it!!!!!!!

i'll follow that link thanks! i wish sitting on my hands would do it! its almost like an alcoholic needing a drink, i wait anxiously for my little girl to sleep then get the mirror out, squeeze, feel a release, then hate myself! as soon as i'm in a happy place i'm hoping it will stop! you should see my blotchy face now! yak
I have some spots on my scalp that won't heal because I pick them - but at least nobody sees them.
I must confess to being a spot picker too - I get them just before my period and they are sore and red.
I bite my nails and pick the skin too - my fingers are a mess just now. I have been wandering around with plasters on my fingers to keep me from picking.
And don't get me started on in-grown hairs - good fun!

Yes! Im just like this, I find it extremely calming and I can spend ages doing it. If I can't get to a mirror I tend to feel down my back, chest and legs to see if there is any scabs black/white heads i can pull off or any spot to be squeezed.
As you say it's definitely a stress and depression thing. As the link said it probably is a kind of self- mutualation (sp?) but I can't help it, it truly is addictive!
