Suddenly I have experienced difficulty in trying to digest food. I swallow and the food appears to come into contact wtih a part of my gullet which is sore, and is painful as it tries to continue on it's journey, It's as though the motion of my gullet has to force it through. It happened out of the blue after ( I think) I had eaten some strawberries. Was it the acid in the fruit? I feel as though the surface of the gullet has worn away. There again it could be my medication, and it has been happenig over some time.

If these symptoms do not resolve within 2 weeks, then see your GP.
Almost certainly nothing to do with the fruit and may be gastric reflux (GERD)

Many thanks, and will see doc.
I echo sqad's suggestion.
I have acondition called Barratts Oesophagus which is basically the lining of the oesophagus(or gullet) has been eroded in some areas after years of undiagnosed acid reflux caused by a Hiatus Hernia. The doc prescribed Omeprazole and 2 yearly checks by endoscope. You need to have it checked out.Good luck.
