back pain

As you may have seen, ive already posted a few questions with regards to back pain. i am now considering persuing this privately but dont think i have much cover left on my policy this year. i know that if i go back to my GP then i will have to then be referred on if i say i want to go private. the other day when i went i thought the GP would send me for an xray, after all i want to know whats going on inside me after all. So, do i ask to be referred to see a specialist which would probably go over my insurance limit or should i ask to see a phsio or osteopath. i feel that i definitely want an xray. Would the physio or osteopath do an xray or send me for one initially?

When I was suffering from severe back pain as a result of 2 'slipped discs' I was sent by my doctor for a scan at a local hospital. It didn't cost me anything. If you were to do the same, you could then discuss with your GP your options.

ask for an MRI scan - you may have to wait a little while depending on your area but imo that's the way to go.

Physio and Osteopath's do not do or send people for x rays,they just refer you back to your doctor, go back to your doctor and ask him strongly but politely to be sent for an scan on the NHS wait for results and discuss with doctor the outcome ,not sure why you do not have much cover left on your private insurance,without further info ,if it is time wise then as long as you have started the treatment then the claim goes on till the matter is sorted.
