I had a left upper lobectomy ten weeks ago for non small cell lung cancer. I do not need any further treatment. I just want to know how long it takes to get completely over the surgery. At the moment I dont really need painkillers just paracetamol occasionally. At the moment I am experiencing pain under my left breast and at centre of my chest, not constantly. I it like a stabbing pain.

How long is a piece of string?

What do you mean by "getting over " the surgery?

Ten weeks.....you should now be well over your operation and the stabbing pains sound muscular rather than anything sinister.

I have had various estimations from six months to eighteen months. I just was asking your opinion not suggesting anything sinister.
I know.....I was just trying to reassure you.
My Mother recently underwent the same procedure, JacksGran - and it took around 12-15 weeks before the various pains associated with the surgery finally dissipated, and she was able to dispense with the painkillers entirely.
