Afternoon,

I've started running again for the first time in a few months (the bike has taken over during the sunny months). I'm running just under a 10 minute mile - is this acceptable?

I feel it's not but some have attempted to reassure me it's "fine".

I've never really used this metric before. I used to run 6 miles a day and just be happy to finish it. Now I've only got the option of doing 3 miles in a session so I need a new benchmark for improvement.

What should I be aiming for?

I ten minute mile feels like a comfortable jog for two or three miles. Then, it starts to feel quite fast.

As I always suggest ... try to run the later miles quicker than the earlier ones.

Good call. Resting tonight, but I'll give it a crack tomorrow. Will report back with my times!

8.44 mile today. Much better. Possibly because I am trying (knowing that I will report back to you!)

8 minute miles still the target for the moment.

I did have to dodge a mantlepiece being loaded into the back of a people carrier, which surely adds some time?
