Steroid jab
30 Answers
I've had a steroid injection in my shoulder today. I was warned that a few hours later and tomorrow were likely to be painful, he wasn't joking! As advised I have taken paracetemol which has helped, but not enough. Would a bag of frozen peas or a hot water bottle help ease the discomfort, or a clove in my armpit, anything????
I have a high pain threshold but this is nasty, I've had steroid jabs in my knuckles before and am surprised how painful this one has been.

I'm wondering what therapeutic treatments I could try to ease the discomfort. As my shoulder is hurting like buggery I'll go for frozen peas, lifting a saucepan out the cupboard to boil them is not going to help my pain!

Can't do oats but hotty-botty is in position.
Seriously, could the steroid jab have had an analgesic component??? I might have a high pain threshold and seem quite resilient but jeez it hurts. We have friends in common, I might casually mention to them that I am going to hunt him down and stamp on him - I would hit him but my arm hurts ;-)

Have had two steriod jabs in the past four months in the shoulder, the pain lasted about three days after each injection, first one did not work too well, the second one sorted the problem out,yep it does hurt but hang in there because if it works, will be well worth it, just for the records did not find any relief from any pain killers etc. Just hang in there.
I had one in my elbow in July, now got to back and have another in my elbow and one in my shoulder....not looking forward to it. Just wanted to say, I was in the same position as you, I was in agony for ages....my doc advised me to get a sling and keep it elevated (I don't know if that would work for the shoulder though) and to not use it for 2-3 days
Sorry, i'm rubbish! I'll leave it to Sqad! lol
