Just letting the kind folk who encouraged me to go to the doc after my post titled "I'm so tired" After many blood tests and ruling out of thyroid, diabetes etc the doc has an answer at last. Polymyalgia Rheumatica! I'm feeling quite poorly at the mo but the doc assures me that the steroids she's given me will quickly kick in.
Thank you again for all your encouragement xx

I'm glad that the doc has got it sussed and hope you feel better soon. x
Hello Avril. so glad you went to the doctor. The steroids will act very quickly for you. Big Sis had the same (PMR) and could hardly move her arms for the pain nor bend down. Within 24 hrs of the first dose of steroids she was returned to virtually full mobility. Just follow the doc's advice on taking them and you will feel much better very soon ♥
It's a great relief when something is finally pinned down like that and has a simple treatment. I had a couple of acute and chronic periods myself, both came up a mystery and ended up having healing which sorted them each time. The second did follow an infection which left a typical lasting effect, and glad they do have at least one clear disorder now as so far chronic fatigue of all types which can't be detected in a blood test has generated a lot of money for therapists and little actual effective treatment (I can say this as I am a therapist, and see physical symptoms being passed over to us as doctors can't suss them out as an abdication of responsibility in the 'too hard' file). We can do certain things to relieve symptoms when stress makes them worse, but we're not actually medically capable!
Hi Masma

My grandmother and father have both been diagnosed with this. The good news is that the steroids have worked. Takes a while, but both seem relatively back to normal now - hope yours is also resolved.

Thank you all, I can't wait to start feeling better. Does anyone know if this is an 'on going' thing or will it clear up for good after taking the steroids?
Anne - we're jogging along ok at the moment but had a blip a few weeks ago. He's been going to councilling but has finished now (he can go if he feels the need) It's all a case of keeping our fingers crossed. Thanks for asking xx
