Is it the antibiotics causing the nightmares?

I am on my third day of taking Trimethoprim antibiotics for a bladder infection, 200mg twice a day. The last two nights I have been having bad dreams and nightmares and my husband said I have been shouting out in my sleep. Do you think its the tablets or the fact that I have also had a raised temperature and chills with this infection?

It isn't listed amongst the common/known side effects for the drug.

Although I support daffy's post, my bet is that the nightmares are a side effect of the Trimethoprim.

Hate to disagree with "the Sqad", but I'd say its more than likely the raised temperature, which should now be coming down the the antibiotics.

i get nightmares when I'm too hot (me hot in bed? I wish); they go away when I remove a layer of blanket.

I bet they're due to the trimethoprim too...horrible stuff. Makes me feel almost as ill as the bladder infection.

My husband has just about finished a course of Trimethoprim after a prostate operation .These were given to him because he had an infection of some sort whilst in hospital after the op and had a fever,high temperature and the shivers He's had bad dreams whilst taking them and hasn't slept well at all.

Another restless night dreaming. Bladder is fine now but have to finish the course of tablets- another 4 days yet!
