My OH vomited several times last Wednesday. Since then he has been complaining of a burning sensation in his oesophagus whenever he eats or drinks anything hot. He obviously 'burnt' his oesophagus when he was sick but how can he 'cool it down' ?

I'd suggest taking small volumes of food / drink and avoiding hot (temperature or spicey). Hope gets well soon.
ice cream?
What made him vomit mayennaise? Just wondering whats wrong other than the burnt throat.

Try 2 x paracetamol three times a day and plenty of fluids.
It should heal very soon, moist areas on the body like the mouth dont take long to heal.
any idea what caused him to vomit?
He needs to take something to soothe his throat - maybe honey, lemon and and painkiller and avoid whatever is aggravating the problem.
Isn't liquid Gaviscon designed for that?
Question Author
He knows what caused the vomiting - all part of a bigger problem - but he has never had this other after effect.
then obviously something extra has happened this time and that is the area that needs to be addressed. hope you sort it and that all is soon well
I agree with Prudie BUT what is this "bigger problem" that you have mentioned?
Acid reflux?
Question Author
Minor Seizures - that are now being controlled, but afterwards he vomits
Questions like this make me sick!

Sorry to be so little help but Gaviscon could help here for a while.
