I am type 2 diabetic, diagnosed approx. 2 yrs. On being told of having T2D. I imeadiatly went on a strict diet. I lost approx. 2-3 stone in very quick time 14/ TO 12. STONE. UNFORTUNATLY I HAVE NOT STOPPED LOSING.I am now down to 11st. 5 lbs. I am scheduledto see the D N next month but the last time I saw her she didn,t seem concernd.
I do not feel ill or any pains other than the usual ones one suffers with age (79 and counting) The biggest problem is two daugters and a grandaugter saying how ill and old I am looking. Is anyone out there can advice me on what I can eat/take to put on a fewpounds bearing in mind my bloodsugar levels wich are excelent and within paramiters. The meds I am on are 2- 500 metformin a day.
Thanks for taking time to read my ramble Danny,

Well......to sum up.....you are a Type 2 diabetic...well controlled and the only problem is that due to your weight loss, your kith an kin think that you are looking ill.

If you feel well and your diabetes is under control....aged 79 years....i would not change my lifestyle or regime one little it.
Who cares what you look like as long as you are fit and well. Keep going grandfatherd and stop looking in the mirror, or listening to other people. Sounds to me as if you are well controlled and as long as you keep that way, don't worry.
Sorry sqad, I was so busy typing I didn't read your post, which of course supercedes mine.
Starby.....nothing supersedes your posts.......;-)
With respect Danny, I'm not sure whether it makes much difference at your age! Diabetic complications can take 15 years to happen. Having said that dont you feel much fitter, less tired, more alert having lost all that weight?

Thanks for all your replies, I have said all this and more to my kith & kin(good phrase that,) but I still get grief from them. but at least by asking on AB I have alittle more ammo to fire back. Thanks again danny
As long as you are a correct weight for your height, why worry? Unfortunately-what your 'kith and kin' have said is not uncommon whenever any one sheds a fair amount of weight. As long as you feel good in yourself-ignore 'em!
my Mum found that it was the Metformin making her lose weight, as long as you are feeling ok and the docs are happy, don't worry about it, just look at the positive side of how much energy etc you have now.
You are hardly underweight.

They are just comparing with your former roly poly figure.
