No amount of gadgets etc will work unless you really really want to give up.
My youngest daughter begged me to give up and I did it on her birthday in 1989, haven't had even a puff of one since then.
Good luck.

Yes, I was just thinking the same as Lisa - chances are your kids know already. Good luck with giving up. It's not easy. I stopped at New Year and I've managed to be good so far.
Mr Frog is giving up today. He tried going on to roll-ups at New Year as he figured it was such a hassle to roll them that he wouldn't be bothered to smoke, but it didn't work out like that! Let us know how you get on.

As the others - just wanted to add my encouragement to the others. I gave up around 3 years ago now, and the 1st week was by far the hardest. Havent looked back since then.
Best advice for that first week - drink water or eat fruit when you get the craving - not crisps, like I did :) And just keep in mind the health benefits you will get, the fact that food will taste sooo much better, and you will be saving lots of money.

Are you determined to go 'cold turkey' ?
I've heard that it is quite effective to cut down in a 'controlled' way.
On day one if you want a cigarette, you say 'If I still want one in twenty minutes, I'll have one' then go about your business and if you still have he same desire in twenty minutes you have one. And so on throughout the day. Then next day you increase the time to thirty minutes, then next day forty minutes and so on.
You are gradually reducing your smoking by increasing the time between cigarettes.
Best of luck to you whatever you do.
I'm a non-smoker, but I'm sure giving up is very hard. I certainly wouldn't like to give up chocolate, which is probably almost as harmful.

I never thought I'd stop smoking but it's 2.1/2 years since I stopped. At first I cut down from 15 a day to 10 then 8 and so on. I had to go into hospital for a few days and from then on I stopped. Just remember to watch what you eat, don't try to diet at the same time but it is natural to put on a bit weight when you stop. Stick with it.
