We noticed a small swelling back in September on the side of my sons neck when he turned his neck, we took him to the doctors to have it checked out. The doctor said it was a swollen lymph node. He sent him for a blood test and the results came back ok and clear. (it is still there now)
I have just noticed when my son turned his neck, another one possibly two on the other side of his neck, my son will be 14 in a couple of weeks and is going through puberty. I did look on the internet and a couple of websites said they can swell during puberty.
I will make another appointment first thing Monday morning to have him checked, but i am worried now and just wondered if anyone had any thoughts or knowledge about this.
I had swollen lymph nodes around that age, as did some of my friends. We're all still here!
Similarly, I often noticed those swellings with the (pubescent) lads I used to teach. It never gave me or others (including the school nurse) the slightest cause for concern.
I really don't want to alarm you but please make sure you have every test going. My husband had what he thought was a swollen gland after having a nasty virus in the winter,he is now in a hospital bed having had three lumps removed. I hope and pray that this is not the same in your case
I remember being extremely worried when my then 11-year old son had the same thing. It turned out that the cause was nits and the problem was quickly dealt with.
