Help I Cant Swallow My Tablets..!!!

Help >.< I'm 15 and i have panic attacks, during my panic attacks i am unable to swallow. At the moment i have just been given tablets for my thoat infection, they are Amoxicillin and you cant brake them up you have to swallow them whole and i've got 21 in the pack and i have wasted three because i have puked them bk up through forcing myself to swallow them...

help please, i really need to take these tablets..

go to the gp tomorrow and get a prescription for liquid amoxyl

What I do is place the pill on the back of my tongue, so it's nearly there anyway. Then have a massive drink of water, as if you are really really thirsty, forgetting that the pill is there. It will be washed away.

I cant my dad's at work, and i only live with him and you can only go with your parents..:(

I cant, I've tried before and yes i'm in the uk, But the doctors i go, i have to go with my parents til i'm 16.

This method has worked for me and others i've suggested it to.You put the tablet on your tongue,and take the liquid through a straw.It just doesnt seem to be such an issue that way,and the tablet slips down easily.

When I was younger I used to put the tablet on my tongue and eat a mouthful of something.  Keep the tablet in the middle of your tongue and you won't crunch it up, but when you've finished chewing the food just swallow normally.  It seems to stop you worrying that you'll choke on the pill and trick you into thining you've crunched it into small bits.

I'd double check that about the drs though, I've never heard of there being an age limit at an NHS practise, are you using private medical care?

Omg i've tried all of these and none are working without me puking it back up...*crys* help me, its annoying the hell out of me !!

You (or your dad) could try ringing your doctor's surgery first thing tomorrow and ask to speak to a nurse and explain your situation.  They just might prepare another prescription for you without seeing the GP.  In the meantime try to stay calm, drink plenty of fluids and ask your dad if he can give you some soluble paracetemol if you have some in the house.

when i was younger i couldnt swallow pills either i used to grind the pill up and mix it with a spoonful of yoghurt then just eat it quickly.

A doctor once told me to lower my chin onto my chest when taking pills as this opens the throat and does not constrict it.  Try it, it works nearly every time for me.  Good luck

why don't you ask the chemist if he will swap the same amount of tablets you have left for liquid? If he needs to, he will phone the doctor to check but I don't see why he shouldn't do it - it makes no difference to him and you're only asking for the same drug.

In the meantime, i would say it's important for you to get your medication, so crush one of the little *******! Surely it's more important to get the stuff down somehow, than not at all?

If I have trouble eating pills, I take a mouthful of something, chew, and when I just about to swallow I pop the pill in. I know almost the same answer is above, but mayve this works better. good luck!

i used to push the tablet in a small piece of banana and swallow that!

I've tried swallowing the tablets with food but it just wont work, because my thoat is swallow and i can just about get my food down my thoat let alone the tablet with it >.< gosh ! i wish it would just go down my thoat, i'm scared of wasting all my tablets. I've been sick 5 times just trying to swallow them..

Baby-Kitten, don't be scared of 'wasting' tablets; the world is full of them. The priority is just to get yourself well, not to save the NHS a few pennies for pills. If you can't get to the doctor again, ask a chemist for advice - he may be able to swap tablets for liquid, as crisgal said.

dont know if this will help but if the tablet isnt too big i normally eat it with jelly and it just slides down your throat....
