Painkillers

My doctor has just prescribed Naproxen and co-codamol to be taken together for back pain seems a lot of painkiller even though I am in pain didn't argue if it does the job then so be it but I thought co-codamol was addictive and yet I've been given it to take long term

I have co-dydramol for pain relief if that's similar and am prescribed it 100 tablets at a time. I'm not a pill junkie though and try to ration them out and not take more than I need as I figure with a chronic pain condition the worst thing I can do is get dependent, especially as if the pain worsens it could mean more stronger meds so I try to find other ways to deal with it as well to get a bit of balance. Sometimes you just need the fast relief though but I try as much as I can so I don't get too dependant.

If your doctor has prescribed it and it relieves the pain then i can't see a problem. Yes, co-codamol MAY be addictive......MAY...........but this surely is a small price to pay for pain relief.

The chemist tells you not to take it for more than three days at a time, but that's if you're self-medicating. It is addictive - but under medical supervision it should be fine.

I had them some time back and was very constipated - it was very uncomfortable.

I used to have co-codamol as and when required. I hate taking drugs of any description. I was alright on the low strength one but when he gave me the higher strength I felt really out of it. He decided I may be better on Zydol instead which is Tramadol but disolves in water. I feel I can only take one at bedtime although he had suggested 2. I am unsteady when I get up to use the loo. Wouldn't dare take 2 as suggested.

I take 2 cocodamol when I need it - since they took Propain off the shelves, it's all I would take, particularly since I'm sensitive to aspirin, so can't take Ibuprofen either.

My brother is on daily naproxen permanently for a chronic condition. He also has to take co cOdamol sometimes daily (for a few weeks at a time if he has a flare up) He does not appear addicted at all. I

Yep when i had cocod i kept senakot handy and an antihisthamine just incase xx
